June 13, (THEWILL) – The Nigeria Wrestling Federation sends its deepest condolence to the President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF), Dr Daniel Igali, as well as the families of Bayelsa Football supporters, who lost their lives in a fatal accident while travelling to Asaba to watch the Federation Cup finals between Bayelsa Queens and Delta Queens on Sunday, leading to the demise of 4 persons, with 7 others sustaining injuries.
NWF in a statement issued from the Federation secretariat, described the incident as a tragedy for the entire sports community in Bayelsa and Nigeria at large, adding that the incident was heartbreaking and very unfortunate.
The Federation noted that everyone was in shock and grief over the sad incident that claimed the lives of four Bayelsa indigenes, stressing that it sympathises with the State Government through Daniel Igali, who doubles as the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Bayelsa State.
The Wrestling Federation commiserates with Dr Igali and prays God Almighty grant the deceased families the fortitude to bear pains and the irreparable loss.
In addition, the Federation also prayed for speedy and quick healing for the other seven hospitalized.
