April 07, (THEWILL) — Zenith Bank recorded a strong performance in fee-based income for the 2025 financial year, raking in N291.8 billion from commissions and related charges.

This was disclosed in the bank’s audited financial results released on Tuesday, highlighting the growing importance of non-interest revenue streams to its overall earnings.

The bank reported total fee and commission collections of N405.8 billion during the period. However, it incurred N114 billion in expenses tied to generating this income, leaving a net figure of N291.8 billion.

A detailed breakdown shows that account maintenance fees contributed the largest share, amounting to N91.9 billion.

These charges, typically set at N1 per N1,000 on customer-initiated debit transactions, remain a consistent revenue driver.

Fees from electronic banking products followed closely, generating N89.1 billion, reflecting increased adoption of digital banking channels.

Additionally, the bank earned N53.1 billion from financial guarantee contracts issued, underscoring its strong presence in corporate and institutional banking services.

Foreign currency transaction fees and commissions brought in N29.4 billion, while foreign withdrawal charges contributed N19.1 billion.

Credit-related fees also formed a significant component of earnings, including advisory, penal, and commitment fees charged for managing customer credit facilities up to the acceptance stage.

The results reaffirm Zenith Bank’s ability to diversify income sources beyond traditional lending, leveraging transaction-based services and digital platforms to sustain profitability amid evolving market conditions.
