SAN FRANCISCO, December 17, (THEWILL) – No fewer than 10 commuters were feared killed Monday afternoon when Boko Haram gunmen struck at Madari village along the Maiduguri- Baga road in Borno State, abducting a woman and her two-year-old daughter.

Narrating the gory incident, an eye witness, Ali Yakub, who is a commercial driver, told THEWILL, “We were coming back from Kawa on Monday at about 2:30pm when Boko Haram appeared in about 10 vehicles, including an LX 470 jeep and opened fire on motorists on sight.”

According to Yakub, “I was visibly shaken when I saw a man who looks like a Chadian in a Hilux Vehicle mounted with a Multi Purpose Machine gun opening fire sporadically on any vehicle he came across.”

Yakub explained that he was spared by the terrorists because he told them he came from Yusufari and was heading with his passengers for Bindari.

He said the gunmen slaughtered a driver of a Peugeot station wagon car and five of his passengers in his presence, adding
“They also abducted a young woman and her two-year-old child. A Mercedes Benz driver on top speed was shot at and killed with all the other occupants of his car.”

The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Gideon Jibrin, could not be reached for official confirmation as calls made to his telephone could not go through.
