SAN FRANCISCO, March 26, (THEWILL) – A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State, Alhaji Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa, on Wednesday said the greatest mistake the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) could make in the 2015 Presidential election is to field President Goodluck Jonathan as its candidate.
Declaring that APC will floor PDP in the election if the mistake is made, Karasuwa,who was the former chairman of defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) in Yobe State and the present Commissioner for Water Resources, said President Jonathan has lost what it takes to win and fielding him as the presidential candidate in next year’s election would make the road to Aso Rock smoother for the opposition.
He boasted that there is no way President Jonathan can defeat an opposition that keeps growing by the day.
He maintained that APC is waiting on the PDP to do itself the greatest disservice of anointing an “unmarketable” candidate as President Jonathan as its presidential candidate in 2015.
“Actually I will prefer Jonathan to contest. Why? Because, he is the one we can easily beat. This is because he has done so many things that he cannot be marketable,” the APC chieftain said.
He alleged that many things are wrong with the Jonathan Administration which the electorate are not happy about , saying there is no need to tell anybody that 2015 will be the terminal date for the “misrule of PDP and its annexation of Nigeria.”
Karasuwa said: “See the corruption in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and all over the place. Today, hundreds of billions of dollars are gone; tomorrow is the same; next tomorrow is still the same? Look at his Petroleum Minister who is spending over N10billion on a chartered aircraft. What about the recent tragedy at the Immigration recruitment? The list is endless.
“Politics is about presenting the scorecard of the present administration for you to criticise or support; so, we in APC have many things now at hand that we can present to Nigerians and tell them that Jonathan is not competent to rule this country.
“I heard sometime that the PDP wants to make him a consensus candidate and if that happens, we will have an upper hand. As far as APC is concerned, the contest will be a walk-over for us.”
