Akwa Ibom NASS Caucus Endorse Umo Eno

March 24, (THEWILL) – Akwa Ibom State caucus in the National Assembly, has adopted Pastor Umo Eno, the preferred candidate of the incumbent governor of the state, Mr Udom Emmanuel for the 2023 Gubernatorial election under the People Democratic Party ( PDP) platform.

A statement signed by the Head of National Media Maintain Peace Movement/Umo Eno Campaign Organisation, Mr Anietie Usen and made available to THEWILL in Uyo on Thursday, disclosed that the motion for the adoption was moved by the member of House Representatives for Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon Henry Archibong and supported by Hon Nsikak Ekong, representing Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency.

According to the statement, the Lawmakers decided to support governor Emmanuel’s preferred successor because of his proven integrity, entrepreneurial accomplishments and firm belief on intergovernmental collaboration to complete ongoing projects in the state.

He disclosed that ten out of thirteen members of Akwa Ibom state caucus in the National Assembly attended the meeting at the residence of senator Akon Eyaknyie, to adopt pastor Umo Eno for the 2023 governorship poll in the state.

He listed witnesses to endorsement as Senator Effiong Bob, Senator Ibok Essien and Senator Aloysius Etok, while Senator Chris Ekpenyong, a serving senator, who was indisposed sent his goodwill and solidarity message through Senator Eyakenyi to confirm the endorsement.

In his address according to the statement, Pastor Eno expressed appreciation to the lawmakers for their support and solidarity, adding that his emergence as the preferred successor is a product of God’s grace and not his political strength.

“I am humbled by the calibre of people here. I thank God, who found me through His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel. The job ahead of us going into the next phase is very crucial. We must be able to convert our State assets into job creation to stem the tide of unemployment. The general national unemployment figures are not looking good. In Akwa Ibom State, agriculture will serve as the low hanging fruits that will create quick impact which must be explored.”

“I am offering myself to provide service. I am ready for a public debate with any other aspirant on job creation with specifics on timelines for implementation.”

“I do not know everything. I am not one of those who knows it all. That is why I will need your advice and support. You need that Governor that you can advise, who will listen to you and who will respect you. I will create a partnership that works between the executive branch of government and the legislature for the good of our people”, he stated.
