2027: Gov Uzodimma’s Performance Guarantees APC Clean Sweep – Anyanwu

March 22, (THEWILL) — A prominent political analyst and former Commissioner, Hon. Longers Anyanwu, has predicted a total victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State come 2027. He attributes this optimistic forecast to the “superlative” performance of Governor Hope Uzodimma and a strategic shift in party internal democracy.

Speaking on the heels of the recently concluded Ward, Local Government, and State congresses, Anyanwu noted that the adoption of a consensus approach has permanently altered the state’s political landscape. He described the transition as a “paradigm shift” from the often-chaotic party congresses of the past.

According to Anyanwu, the successful execution of the congresses is a testament to Governor Uzodimma’s leadership capacity. He argued that while many talk about “consensus” in theory, the Governor has successfully put it into practice, creating a model for the development of future democracy in Nigeria.

“Opposition right now is in confusion. No party in Nigeria has been able to organise such a superlative, well-organised, and all-inclusive congress. Onwa (Uzodimma) has shown us that consensus is a way to the development of future democracy”, Anyanwu stated.

The Obowo-born politician emphasised that the support currently enjoyed by the Governor is not merely political but “performance-based”. He cited significant infrastructure projects, such as the Assumpta Cathedral flyover and the Mgbee/Umuchima bridge across the Orashi River, as tangible evidence of the administration’s impact.

He further noted that these “deliverables” have triggered a mass exodus from the opposition, particularly the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Anyanwu observed that the APC, once viewed with scepticism in the region, has now been domiciled in every nook and cranny of the state.

Looking ahead to the next general elections, Anyanwu dismissed fears of a party implosion caused by the influx of new members. He maintained that the “bottom-to-top” process of the recent congresses has unified the party leadership.

Central to this stability is the Charter of Equity, a brainchild of the Governor aimed at institutionalising the rotation of power in Imo State. Anyanwu believes this will be the final piece of the puzzle that ensures a “clean sweep” for the APC in 2027, from the presidential election down to the local seats.
