
April 04, (THEWILL) – The wife of Ogun State Governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, stated that the newly constructed modern shopping complex at Lafenwa market would boost the state’s economic growth.
She said that the complex equipped with state-of-the-art facilities would rapidly transform the market into an economic hub and attract traders within and outside the council for business transactions to enhance the local and economic growth of the state
Mrs Abiodun, who disclosed this on Friday while commissioning the shopping complex at Lafenwa market, which was constructed by the Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo-led Abeokuta North Local Government administration, thanked the LG chairman for naming the complex after her.
She said that the newly constructed shopping complex was in line with Governor Dapo Abiodun’s agenda to work with local government authorities across the state to deliver modernised markets with the view of fostering economic growth and development in the state.
The first lady said that the complex, with its electricity and modern storage, has the capacity to preserve perishable goods for traders in order to achieve an excessive food supply and enhance food security for the citizens of the council and the entire state.
She said, “It is with immense gratitude and deep appreciation that I come here today on this momentous occasion. It is an honour for me and my family that this modern shopping complex is being named after me. I expressed my heartfelt thanks to the chairman of Abeokuta North Local Government, Hon. Lanre Oyegbola Sodipo, and his executive for this distinguished recognition.
“Today we are gathering for the opening of the modern commercial hub that will transform economic activities in this local government and beyond. The market has always been the heartbeat of commerce in any society, and a modern market like this one represents the future. They create a more conducive environment for trade, enhance economic development and improve the overall business experience for traders and buyers alike.
“Lafenwa market being a major market in Abeokuta North has long been certain of trade and economic activities with this new development we are not only boosting local commerce but also positioning Abeokuta North as a key player in regional trade this market will attract people from different part of the state to facilitate economic exchanges and contribute significantly to the growth of Ogun State economy.
“This beautiful Lafenwa market serves as an example of what we can achieve when we prioritise economic employment of our people, market such as this one are critical not only for trade but also for food security with the provision of electricity and modern storage facilities trader can store perishable goods for long prohibiting harvest losses and ensure excessive supply of food for our people”, she added.
Earlier, the Chairman of the council, Hon. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo, said that the commissioning of the complex would have a positive impact on the economic and social landscape of the council and, as well, enhance trade and create job opportunities.
“As we commission this significant project, we are reminded of the power of community collaboration and the positive impact it can have on our economic and social landscape. We look forward to the opportunities this new facility will bring, enhancing trade, creating jobs and fostering community spirit”, he stressed.
