November 07, (THEWILL) – Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed his condolences to the Federal Government and Nigerian Armed Forces following the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja.
Lagbaja’s passing, which occurred on Tuesday, was confirmed Wednesday morning by President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser, Kayode Akinmade, the governor described Lagbaja as a devoted and valiant officer who dedicated himself to the nation’s service.
He praised Lagbaja’s leadership and strategic prowess, noting his significant achievements in countering terrorist and bandit activities across Nigeria.
The statement read, “The passing of Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja is a monumental loss to the Nigerian military and the nation as a whole.
“Yet, we find comfort in his impactful, patriotic, and distinguished life of service. As a courageous and tenacious soldier, he committed himself to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity. May his soul rest in peace, and may God grant his family the strength to bear this profound loss.”
Abiodun extended his condolences to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Nigerian Armed Forces, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, and the community of Ilobu in Osun State, Lagbaja’s hometown.
