November 16, (THEWILL) – Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has commended the people of the state for conducting themselves in an orderly manner during the local government election held in the state on Saturday.
This was just as he opposed criticism by opposition parties, especially the Peoples Democratic Party, over the delay in the arrival of electoral materials at polling units.
Abiodun made the commendation while answering questions from journalists shortly after casting his vote at the Ita-Osanyin Unit 2, Ward 3 in Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.
The governor noted that the peaceful atmosphere indicated that the people were ready to elect the candidates of their choice.
“I am confident that when the elections are concluded and the people have expressed their choice through the ballot, everybody will be happy,” he said
Abiodun, while speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Lekan Adeniran, denied allegations from opposition parties over the delay in the arrival of electoral materials at polling units.
He specifically mentioned cities such as Abeokuta, the state capital; Ijebu Ode, Sagamu, Ota, and Ilaro, noting that election materials arrived on time even as voters expressed confidence that the exercise would be concluded without any hassles.
