SAN FRANCISCO, November 22, (THEWILL) – ActionAid Nigeria in collaboration with Search for Common Ground, Government of Borno, Adamawa, Yobe and others are working together to support the implementation of the Humanitarian, Development and Peace Nexus across the region.
The Manager of Humanitarian and Resilience, ActionAid Nigeria, David Habba during a stakeholder’s consultative workshop in Abuja explained that the collaboration became necessary to ensure efficient conversation between humanitarian development and peace development to go side by side.
According to him, ActionAid is ensuring that they get to the stakeholders to strengthen the dissolution and begin to take a step so as to achieve good term coordination and long term achievements.
Also, the National Conflict analyst, Search for Common Ground, Chrisanto Lappa assured that consultation will commence between now and March 2021 with actors across the nation.
In his words “We have most of the donors that are working in the North East and the idea of the HDP is to bridge the gap where people are concentrating in Human development or either humanitarian action for peacebuilding. There will be more collaboration which will help us to give more accountability and help us reduce duplication and wastage. We intend to move to individual states. We are going to start our conversation at the national level and let it go round.
“We want to ensure we leverage on the platform to have key persons to be at the focal points in their various states that will participate in the HDP nexus and we will be able to leverage on that network to reach as many states as possible at the same time”, he said.
The Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation in Borno state, Nuhu Clark lauded ActionAid Nigeria for bringing in stakeholders so as to come together to achieve the common goal.
“We all agreed to work in synergy, there shouldn’t be duplication but to make sure that whatever we do, we do collectively to achieve the goal. We must be united and reach an agreement which is very important in planning”, he said.
