October 02, (THEWILL) — The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been thrown into mourning following the death of its Deputy Publicity Secretary in Imo State, Ugochimereze Chinedu Asuzu.
Asuzu, a native of Umuma Isiaku in Ideato South Local Government Area, reportedly slumped and died in the early hours of Wednesday.
Confirming the development, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, MacDonald Amadi, described the late Asuzu as “a rare gem whose intellect, conviction, and service left indelible marks on society.”
Until his death, Asuzu combined politics with intellectual pursuits. He held degrees in Theology and Political Science and was pursuing a doctorate.
He was also a writer, public affairs analyst, visiting lecturer, and convener of several socio-cultural platforms, including Igbo Intelligentsia Renaissance and Ikoro Ndigbo.
Within the party, he was the national leader of I Stand With ADC, a citizen mobilization group.
He previously belonged to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before joining the ADC, where he established himself as a strong voice for democratic engagement and cultural renaissance.
“The passing of Chief Asuzu is an irreplaceable loss to his family, the ADC family, and the larger Nigerian society,” Amadi said.
