January 14, (THEWILL) – President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to advancing global climate action and sustainable development.

The Nigerian leader gave the assurances on Tuesday, at the opening ceremony of the 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) and the Sustainability Prize Award Ceremony.

The opening ceremony witnessed the Sustainability Prize Award Ceremony, where organisations and innovators driving change in clean energy, water management and food security were celebrated.

President Tinubu departed Abuja on Saturday, January 11, to participate in the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2025).

The event, an international platform dedicated to advancing sustainable development and global collaboration, is hosted by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.

The ADSW 2025 brings together world leaders, policymakers and industry experts to explore innovative strategies for achieving sustainability and socio-economic development.

President Tinubu has been actively involved in strategic discussions and meetings to strengthen Nigeria’s role in sustainability and regional cooperation since he arrived in Abu Dhabi.

Earlier, he held a crucial meeting with Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola. The discussion focused on leveraging private-sector expertise and investment to accelerate Nigeria’s transition to renewable energy and bolster economic growth.

On Monday, President Tinubu met with his Rwanda counterpart, Paul Kagame. The dialogue centred on the need for African nations to harness their vast resources, human capital and innovative capacities to achieve economic self-reliance.
