SAN FRANCISCO, December 15, (THEWILL) – The Yobe State Government has again reviewed the curfew imposed on Damaturu, the state capital.

The state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, Monday, directed that the curfew imposed on the state capital after the Boko Haram attacks two weeks ago, be reviewed.

A 24-hour curfew was initially imposed on the town but after the expiration of the first 24-hour, it was reviewed to between 6pm and 7am daily.

But in a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Press Affairs and Information to the governor, Mallam Abdullahi Bego, the state government said the curfew has further been reviewed to between 8pm and 6am daily.

The statement read in part: “From today Monday 15th December 2014, the curfew will begin from 8pm to 7am daily. Until now, the curfew used to be between 6pm and 7am daily.”

According to the statement, “The review of the curfew hours followed consultations that His Excellency the Governor had with heads of law enforcement agencies in the State.

“Once again, His Excellency Governor Gaidam extends his deepest appreciation to the residents of the state capital for their exemplary support to and cooperation with security agents.

“The governor calls on people in Damaturu and around the State to continue to cooperate with security agents, remain vigilant to happenings around them and report anything suspicious to the security posts nearest to them.”

The statement said with the cooperation of the people and the hard work of the security agents, peace and security will be restored throughout Yobe State soon.
