October 27, (THEWILL) – Organisers of the Third Agribusiness Round-table Conference in Nigeria, have said that the conference will confer an award of Honour to the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for placing priority on Agriculture in his ARISE initiative.
In a phone conversation with the Chairman, Central Planning Committee (CPC), Mr Howard Usen, on the level of preparedness for the event which is meant to commence with the arrival of participants on Sunday, October 27, 2024, he disclosed that the host Governor will be given award even as the ARISE initiative would receive a boost at the end of the event.
“At this moment in time, I will say that in partnership with the ARISE agenda of our amiable Governor; Pastor Umo Eno, the international conference is like a one-stop shop to showcase the state, the developmental efforts regarding agriculture and elite businesses, that’s why this conference is honouring the governor.
“This is an opportunity for us to showcase what we have. The conference team as I said is unlocking agri-business opportunities for economic sustainability and we have topics that have to do with finance, topics that have to do with export-oriented businesses and topics that have to do with climate change.
“We are having the country director of solidadidat speak on smart agriculture, we have the Indonesian ambassador speak on the Indonesian perspective in agriculture, what they did differently when they were maybe somewhere in our current situation in Nigeria, and then we have several other high profile people.
“We have Professor Edoeh speaking on CNG and, several other people are coming to be part of this event, so it’s a very big event that we want people to take advantage of.
We are expecting everyone to be a part of the conference, we have invited farmers, banks, institutions, captains of industries across the board and everyone will have something to benefit from the event”. Usen stated.
The CPC chairman for the event foresees rewarding and insightful discussions, noting that the keynote address would be presented by the Minister, Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite even as several other high profile personalities would be on hand, to put their heads together to develop a program that would move agriculture to the next level in the state and Nigeria in general.
“It couldn’t have been more apt than this time that the governor is putting agriculture at the pivot of this ARISE agenda”, Usen reasoned.
He however stressed the need for private individuals and organisations to partner with the ARISE agenda initiative of the present administration in Akwa Ibom State, especially the aspect of the Agricultural Revolution.
Our Correspondent reports that the conference is organised by the Nigeria Agribusiness and Agro-industry Development Initiative (NADDI), the Federation of Agricultural Commodity Association of Nigeria and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and Agriculture and Rural Development, it has as its theme, ‘Unlocking agribusiness opportunities for economic sustainability,’ and is expected to draw participants from key sectors of the economy including policy-makers.
And over eight Nigerian governors are expected to grace the conference slated for 27, 28 and 29 of October 2024, at the Ibom Icon Hotels and Golf Resort, Uyo.
