March 23, (THEWILL) – The community leader of Enen Atai Itam in Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, Professor Effanga James Usua, has called on participants in the just concluded gubernatorial and State Assembly elections to accept their fates as the will of God and exhibit the spirit of comradeship for peaceful coexistence.
Professor Usua made the call on Wednesday, while reacting to the victory of Pastor Umo Eno of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), at the March 18 gubernatorial election in the State, urging Eno to realize that his victory is the will of God for the people and not for a personal or sectional interest.
The Professor of Biological Science and a retired lecturer at the University of Calabar adjudged the March 18 polls in his domain as peaceful, orderly and credible and prayed that subsequent elections in the country should follow the same pattern.
“I voted during the election on Saturday, it was peaceful, orderly and without violence. I pray that elections in Nigeria should continue like this.
“My advice is that winners should realise that their victory is the will of God and the losers should beat their time, knowing that there will be another time. Everybody will never win at the same time. Only one person would be declared and others would lose, but in the spirit of comradeship because it is all in the service of the nation.
“I congratulate Umo Eno and the PDP for the victory, I see it as the will of God made manifest,” he said.
THEWILL reports that the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, was declared the winner of the March 18 election in Akwa Ibom State, having scored 354,348 votes to defeat candidates of the YPP, who polled 136,262 votes; APC, who scored 129,602 votes; and NNPP, who had 12,509 votes.
