February 25, (THEWILL) – A former gubernatorial aspirant in the 2023 general elections in Akwa Ibom State, Mr James Iniama, has called on the newly appointed commissioner from Itu Local Government Area (LGA), Dr Henry Archibong, to view his appointment as an opportunity to serve his people with maximum respect and without tyranny. This appeal comes in light of the voluntary political contributions made by the people of Itu LGA to the state and the local government in particular.
Iniama’s call was contained in a goodwill message to Archibong, who was sworn in by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Umo Eno, into the State Executive Cabinet as the Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Housing on Monday.
“One of the expectations we, your kinsmen, have in this era of the twin political status God has graciously thrust upon you is the opportunity for the people of Itu LGA to enjoy maximum respect, devoid of tyranny, in their voluntary political service to the LGA and Akwa Ibom State.
“I am sure that you will dedicate this elevation to the Almighty God, whose ways are past finding out. You are the best Governor Umo Eno has given us among all who desired to be so appointed. Congratulations. God is with you and will prosper your thoughts in this new responsibility”, Iniama prayed.
Our correspondent reports that Dr Henry Archibong has previously served as a two-term member of the House of Representatives, representing the Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency.
Until his recent appointment, Archibong was the Honorary Special Adviser to the State Governor on Political Affairs for Uyo Senatorial District and the political leader of Itu Local Government Area, nominated by Governor Umo Eno.
Among the 27 commissioners and special advisers sworn into the State Executive Cabinet by the governor were Hon. Aniekan Umanah (Ministry of Information), Rt. Hon. Henry Archibong (Ministry of Housing), Hon. Frank Archibong (Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs), Hon. Emem Ibanga (Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs), Prof. Eno Ibanga (Ministry of Works and Fire Service), and Comrade Ini Ememobong (Ministry of Special Duties and Ibom Deep Seaport), among others.
