March 10, (THEWILL) – The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a 42-year-old man, Victor Okoh, for allegedly murdering his wife, Victoria Okoh, in Oron.
According to a statement by the Command, officers responded to a distress call from concerned residents around 5:20 am and arrived at the scene to find the mutilated body of the deceased outside the couple’s home.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect attacked his wife with a machete over allegations of infidelity, leading to her death.
In an attempt to evade arrest, Okoh reportedly hid in the ceiling of the house, but police operatives secured the building, forced entry, and apprehended him.
The police recovered the machete used in the attack, and photographs of the crime scene were taken for further investigation.
The victim’s body has been deposited at the General Hospital Morgue for an autopsy, while the suspect remains in custody.
Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, condemned the incident, assuring the public that justice would be served.
He also warned against domestic violence and urged residents to seek lawful means of resolving disputes rather than resorting to violence.
“The Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens and urges the public to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police formation,” the statement read.
