May 20, (THEWILL) – Al Ahly continued their dominant run in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League as they booked their place in the final for the fourth consecutive time with a comprehensive 4-0 aggregate win over Esperance de Tunis at the Cairo International Stadium.
Right from the start, the home team displayed confidence and composure on the ball, controlling possession in the early minutes. While Esperance aimed to exploit counter-attacking opportunities, it was Al Ahly’s Percy Tau and Kahraba, who combined effectively, creating the first significant chance of the game with Kahraba’s effort hitting the crossbar.
Although the ruled attempt would not have counted if it went in due to an offside, Al Ahly persisted with their attacking pressure, dictating play while Esperance defended deep. In the 21st minute, the Egyptian side took the lead when Tau delivered a perfectly weighted through ball to El Shahat, who cleverly lobbed the goalkeeper to find the back of the net.
The first half belonged to Al Ahly, as they controlled possession and limited ES Tunis’ chances to score. The second half saw a similar pattern, with Al Ahly maintaining their dominance. Despite holding an aggregate advantage, the Egyptian side remained proactive in search of a second goal, while also effectively managing the game.
ES Tunis struggled to find a response to Al Ahly’s swift attacks, ultimately succumbing to a 1-0 defeat on Al Ahly’s home turf.
