August 12, (THEWILL) — Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly spent more than $1m on an engagement ring for his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, following the couple’s announcement on Monday.
The Portuguese football icon proposed with a massive oval-cut diamond that jewellery experts say could be one of the most expensive celebrity engagement rings of 2025.
Rodriguez revealed the ring on Instagram, with diamond specialist Benjamin Khordipour estimating it at $1.2m.
He described the centrepiece as a 22-carat oval diamond with H colour grading and VS1 clarity.
The platinum setting features two additional oval diamonds of about two carats each, creating a three-stone design to maximise brilliance.
Anna Whiting of Cushla Whiting Jewellers suggested the central stone could top 25 carats, potentially pushing its value into the tens of millions, placing it among the most valuable rings ever purchased by a professional athlete.
Ronaldo’s deal with Saudi club Al-Nassr — worth over £175m a year, including endorsements — means the $1m outlay equates to roughly three days of his salary. His contract, extended recently, earns him about £488,000 a day.
Jewellery analysts note that the ring’s specifications put it in the ultra-luxury category usually reserved for royalty or billionaire collectors.
Premium dealers say diamonds of this calibre take months to source and cut, suggesting the 40-year-old planned the proposal well ahead of the announcement.
