July 23, (THEWILL) — Barely a month after he officially resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), former Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, on Wednesday, led a road walk through major roads in Port Harcourt, to unveil the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a new coalition party to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 General elections.
THEWILL recalls that shortly after he attended the funeral of the late former President, Muhammadu Buhari, in Daura, Katsina State, Amaechi hinted that he would soon address his supporters in Rivers State on the current political situation in the country.
Addressing a crowd of supporters on Wednesday, the former Rivers governor declared that the ADC is on a mission to bring hope and happiness to Nigerians.
Amaechi, who accused the Rivers State political establishment of electoral malpractice, alleged that the state has become “notorious for writing results.” He, therefore, warned that he would not align with any supporter unwilling to confront and resist attempts by politicians and electoral officials to rig future elections.
Amaechi charged members of ADC to stop those responsible for rewriting election results.
“We are new members of the ADC, it’s the adopted party of the coalition. Most importantly, have your eyes on 2027 and to have your eyes on 2027, please go home and start registration. We will form a committee that will go from local government to local government, ward to ward, to ascertain the number of people we have.
“Our (Rivers) state is notorious for writing results, and we must stop them from writing results. We must protect our votes. When they say that they have already written the results, it discourages voters from coming out. If you’re not ready to stop rigging, I will not work with you
“We should encourage people to come out and vote for the removal of the current government, or we will all die of hunger. Currently, Nigerians are complaining about President Tinubu’s first tenure; imagine what the second tenure will be like. Then, you’ll be dead and buried”, he said.
