July 23, (THEWILL) — The Managing Director of the South-South Development Commission (SSDC), Ms Usoro Akpabio, has assured the administration of President Bola Tinubu and the entire people of Niger Delta, that the commission, under her leadership, is fully “prepared to hit the ground running”, pledging to bring visionary leadership and stakeholder engagement to work.
Ms Akpabio expressed the commitment on Monday in Abuja, when she led a delegation of senior officials of the Commission on a courtesy visit to Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
The SGF, who congratulated the newly appointed leadership, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to accelerating development across the South-South region.
While emphasising the strategic importance of the South-South region to Nigeria’s overall growth and stability, Akume charged the SSDC team to execute their mandate with diligence, innovation, and integrity, emphasising that their appointment reflects President Bola Tinubu’s confidence in their capacity to transform the region.
“This appointment is a vote of confidence by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in your ability to transform the narrative of the South-South. We are counting on your leadership to drive meaningful, inclusive development that reaches the grassroots and strengthens the economic potential of the region”, he said.
In her remarks, Ms Akpabio reiterated the SSDC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and measurable impact in all its projects and interventions.
“We are prepared to hit the ground running. The people of the South-South are looking up to us, and we will not fail them”, she assured.
The visit also featured the formal presentation of appointment letters to the Commission’s leadership team, marking the official commencement of their duties.
