BEVERLY HILLS, October 08, (THEWILL) – To ensure that they shun any form of criminality and social vices, the Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has urged youths in Degema Local Government Area of the state to involve more in sporting activities and developments.
The governor stated this while commissioning the Tonye Harry sports complex in Degema. Governor Amaechi advised local government officials to regularly hold competitions among youths and communities advising that monetary prices be set aside to serve as motivation.
He promised that his administration would continue to provide opportunities for youths to develop their talents so they can compete with their counterparts around the country.
Earlier in his address, the chairman of Degema local government, Hon. Ibigoni Pokima said the completion of the sports complex was one of the various lofty projects his administration has done in the local government.
He said, “We also ventured into various initiatives to bring to bear the democratic dividends like rural electrifications, building of ICT centers, rural transportation and provision of portable waters.”
The highpoint of the commissioning was display of cultural dances, novelty football match and wrestling bouts.
