Boko Haram Abducts 8 More Girls In Borno Village
Boko Haram insurgents operating in the North-eastern parts of Nigeria have kidnapped eight more girls in Borno State.
The abduction, in the wee hours of Monday, came almost three weeks after over 200 school girls were kidnapped from their hostel by the same insurgents.
Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, who has been declared wanted in both Nigeria and America, had claimed responsibility for the April 14 abduction of the school girls, threatening to sell them off in the open market or marry them off.
Though there was no official confirmation of the Monday abduction from the security agencies in the state, local sources in Gwoza disclosed on Tuesday that the eight girls were abducted Sunday by the terrorists at Warabe.
Warabe lies some 160 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital, and is on the outskirts of Gwoza , a town that had witnessed series of terror attacks in recent times.
THEWILL gathered that the Boko Haram gunmen invaded the village, kidnapping the girls and carting away foodstuff and livestock. The gunmen numbering over 20 armed with AK47 rifles were said to have stormed the village from the border areas between Gwoza and Cameroon Republic.
A resident of the village, Mallam Bello Umar, who disclosed that he had to flee the village because of frequent attacks by Boko Haram.
Umar, who now lives in Gwoza, said: “A group of terrorists invaded Warabe village on Sunday night, abducted eight of our teenage girls before carting away our foodstuffs and livestock.
“As I am talking to you now, I have ran to Gwoza council headquarters, and even in Gwoza, we cannot move around easily due to the fear of the terrorists.
“The situation is so pathetic that almost everyone in Gwoza congregate at a safer zone close to the council secretariat where there is enough presence of security personnel.”

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, May 06, (THEWILL) – Residents of Warabe Village in the troubled Borno State of Nigeria have reported the abduction of eight teenage girls by persons believed to be terrorists.
Residents told THEWILL and journalists associated with other media in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno, Tuesday that the girls were abducted early Monday morning by insurgents at Warabe village, just outside Gwoza town, a few miles from Chibok where over 220 girls were abducted from a school about 3 weeks ago by the Boko Haram.
‎THEWILL gathered that the gunmen numbering about 20 were armed with AK47 assault riffles. They took away livestock and food supplies as well.
They reportedly made for the border with their loot.
