April 20, (THEWILL) – Milwaukee Bucks fans were hit with disappointing news on Wednesday, as star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, was ruled out of Game 2 in the team’s first-round playoff series against the Miami Heat.
Bucks coach, Mike Budenholzer, confirmed that Antetokounmpo is dealing with a lower back issue and has a pain tolerance problem. This comes after the player landed hard on his backside during Sunday’s game against the Heat.
Despite initial optimism surrounding his availability for Wednesday’s game, Antetokounmpo was eventually listed as questionable. The team had hoped that X-rays and an MRI would come back clear, but it seems that the injury will keep him out for at least one game.
Antetokounmpo’s absence will undoubtedly be felt by the Bucks, as he was their leading scorer and rebounder during the regular season and an MVP candidate. In addition to Antetokounmpo, the Bucks were also without Wesley Matthews, who is dealing with a right calf strain.
The team will now have to try to even the series without two key players as they head to Miami. It remains to be seen when Antetokounmpo will be able to return to the court, but the Bucks will no doubt be hoping for a speedy recovery.
