
April 28, (THEWILL) – The Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial district in the present national Assembly, Senator Istyfanus D Gyang, has described the political leadership of Nigeria by the All Progressives Congress (APC), as “destruction of the country and its sources of hope.
Addressing journalists at the Plateau State PDP office, after receiving his clearance certificate from the screening committee to contest the senatorial primary election slated for next month, Senator Gyang said the quantum of damage, hardship and general suffering unleashed on Nigerians by the APC misadventure in power, are such that all good men and men of good will should rise and make contributions to revamp, reconstruct, and rediscover Nigeria and set it on the path of development once again.
According to the Senator, with the ravage of banditry, insurgency and other crimes, the Northern part of the country has been the worse for it, noting that a lot is required, including resourcefulness and experience, to reverse and halt these ugly trends to make Northern Nigeria an environment that conduces agricultural flourish, free trade, and unimpeded social intercourse.
Seeking re-election, he said, is to enable him to contribute to the process of legislation, and use the parliament to make laws with the desired content and direction to retrieve Nigeria and her people from the abyss and doldrums that the APC disaster has consigned it.
Admitting that the issue of renaming Barkin Ladi local government Area of Plateau which proposal failed to pass through the last Constitutional Amendments, Senator Gyang “there are certain denials and errors that are historical and stand to be corrected.
He insisted that the name “Barkin Ladi” is a wrong appellation, because it has no socio-cultural relationship with the place it refers to or its people and their heritage. Thus, he said, this remains a wrong and an injustice that must be corrected.
