BEVERLY HILLS, May 23, (THEWILL) – Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has lamented that his party – the All Progressives Congress, APC – is not properly managing the electoral gains it made in the last general elections. This was as he referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as an “old man”.
Fielding questions from journalists in Owerri, the Imo State capital, on Sunday, the Governor said: “Make no mistake about it, All Progressives Congress, APC, is a good party by all standards. But my regret is that we are not managing our victory very well.”
On his assessment of Buhari’s one year in office, he said: “I have no doubt in my mind that the old man (Buhari) will succeed. All I pleaded with Buhari to capture in the current fiscal year are in the budget. I want to assure Ndigbo that all that are due to us will definitely get to us.”
Reacting to labour’s discontent with the hike in the pump price of petrol; Okorocha said he was in full support of the deregulation of the oil sector.
While lampooning the state and national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, he revealed that he had not seen any reliable person in PDP to work with.
When reminded that Imo workers are being owed salaries since February, the Governor said he was very comfortable with the 70:30 ratio agreement with labour and warned that any time workers refused their salaries, he would use it to carry out projects.
