December 30, (THEWILL) — The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has declared its readiness to welcome Governor Abba Yusuf into its fold, ahead of his anticipated defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).
The APC State Chairman, Prince Abdullahi Abbas, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Kano on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
Abbas described the potential move as one guided by the principles of unity, reconciliation, and the collective interest of the people of Kano State.
Speaking on behalf of the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Abbas emphasised that the invitation for Governor Yusuf to join the APC is rooted in a desire to build a more stable and prosperous state.
“The APC is ready to receive Governor Yusuf with open arms so that, together, we can combine our strengths for the progress of the state,” Abbas stated.
He further noted that upon a formal declaration, Governor Yusuf and other NNPP stalwarts would be integrated into the APC under Ganduje’s leadership.
The chairman assured that the transition would be handled in an atmosphere of mutual respect and shared responsibility to ensure a seamless political alignment.
THEWILL reports that this development follows months of high-level political maneuvering and reconciliation efforts aimed at ending the protracted rivalry between the Ganduje and Kwankwaso political camps in the state.
