BEVERLY HILLS, August 08, (THEWILL) – The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has been arrested by security agents in Osogbo, Osun State, on the eve of the state’s governorship election, his personal assistant said in a statement late Friday night (local time).
Mr. Williams Adeleye, said he was on the phone with him (Mohammed) “when suddenly he heard voices said ‘you are under arrest, enter this vehicle’.”
Mr. Adeleye said his subsequent attempts to reach his boss failed, as his numbers rang without acknowledgement.
As at the time of filing this report THEWILL was unable to independently confirm the agency holding Mr. Mohammed.
The security build up to the Osun State Governorship race have been intimidating as the two main candidates – incumbent Governor Rauf Aregbesola (APC) and main challenger Senator Iyiola Omisore (PDP) square up in the closely watched election.
