Appeal Court Dismisses Onnoghen’s Suit Against CCT Judgement

BEVERLY HILLS, May 10, (THEWILL) – The Court of Appeal on Friday dismissed the suit filed by suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Walter Onnoghen, challenging his suspension.

Onnoghen had instituted the suit challenging the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in prosecuting him.

Chairman of the tribunal, Danladi Umar, had ordered Onnoghen to step aside pending the ruling of his case.

President Muhammadu Buhari subsequently acted on Umar’s order to suspend the former CJN, necessitating challenge of his suspension.

Delivering judgment, the court held that the decision has already been overtaken by events.
