SAN FRANCISCO, August 10, (THEWILL) – Incumbent Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.
The returning officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Bamitale Omole, who declared the result of the election at INEC office in Osogbo, the Osun State Capital, said Aregbesola won in 22 local government areas of the state, while closest challenger, Senator Iyiola Omisore of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won in 8 local government areas.
Professor Omole declared Aregbesola winner having polled 394, 684 votes while Omisore polled 292, 747 votes.
“Ogbeni Rauf A. Aregbesola of the APC having satisfied all requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner…” Omole declared.
