December 31, (THEWILL) — The ARISE Women Initiative, a grassroots mobilisation platform aligned with the development agenda of Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, was formally inaugurated in Itu Local Government Area, with Mrs Idongesit Ubong Nkutt emerging as coordinator.
The inauguration, held at the Obong Itam Civic Centre, drew women leaders and stakeholders from across the local government area and marked the official launch of the group’s activities at the council level.
Performing the inauguration, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Inibehe Etukudo, who represented the Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Lady Helen Obareki, urged women in Itu to remain united and actively support the ARISE Agenda, describing women as critical drivers of grassroots development.
Mrs Nkutt, the wife of the Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Council, in her acceptance speech, said the ARISE Women in Itu would focus on mobilisation and advocacy in support of government policies and programmes.
She assured that the group would work towards sustaining political support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Governor Umo Eno.
Represented by the Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Helen Nta, the Itu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Ubong Nkutt, highlighted the strategic role of women in fostering peace, unity and political participation at the grassroots.
The event attracted wives of local government chairmen, female councillors, supervisors, special advisers, women leaders and party stakeholders.
Goodwill messages were delivered by prominent women leaders, including Obonganwan Grace Ekong, former Secretary to the state government, Dr Ekaette Ebong Okon, Mrs Victoria Henry Archibong, Deaconess Elsie Esara, among others.
The programme ended with prayers and thanksgiving, as participants expressed gratitude for the past year and renewed their commitment to unity, mobilisation and development in Itu Local Government Area.
