BEVERLY HILLS, November 02, (THEWILL) –Â The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has in its custody, Mr. Babatunde Fowler, a former CEO of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service and erstwhile chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, over allegations that Alpha Beta Consulting, a company involved in the exclusive collection of state revenue, stole more than N100 billion from the state government.
Alpha Beta Consulting is allegedly owned by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a former governor of the state and leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, who is preparing a bid for the presidency in 2023.
The company was given exclusive rights to mobilise and collect revenue for the state when Fowler was head of the agency.
Fowler responded to an invitation by the EFCC office in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Monday to answer to allegations made against him by a former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Alpha Beta, Dapo Apara, who said he helped powerful politicians in the state steal and launder more than N100 billion.

THEWILL gathered that the Fowler’s probe is part of an elaborate scheme by powerful members of the APC, who have the backing of the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, to damage Tinubu politically and stop his presidential bid in 2023.
THEWILL sources also said two former governors of the state, Babatunde Fashola, who presently serves as Minister of Works and Akinwunmi Ambode are also being investigated in a bid to find dirt on Tinubu.
