At least 3 Deaths Reported As Cholera Hits Lagos

SAN FRANCISCO, October 23, (THEWILL) –  At least 3 persons have died in Lagos due to the outbreak of the deadly cholera disease while several other persons have been successfully treated at local hospitals, according to Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris.

The Local governments where cases have been reported according to the Commissioner are Ajeromi, Apapa, Lagos Island, Oshodi-Isolo and Surulere.

Idris, who made the disclosure in Alausa, Ikeja, revealed that the disease must have been contracted from foods from food vendors and well water. He particularly named ‘Abacha’, a local delicacy as one of the sources of the disease.

He urged residents of the state to report cases to health institutions as soon as they are happen.
