BEVERLY HILLS, CA, October 16, (THEWILL) – At least four members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State lost their lives while several others collapsed during a stampede that ensued at an annual Sallah gig hosted by the ruling party during the Sallah holiday.
The party was held at the PDP charity house Ilorin, near the Ilofa residence of a former Governor of Kwara State, Dr. Bukola Saraki.
The incident occurred as the Sarakis and other affluent politicians were doling out Sallah gifts to attendees.
A statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Mas’ud Adebimpe confirmed the incident saying that all those that needed medical help were taken to a local hospital about a block from the venue.
The party confirmed the death of four members at the event.
“… We however regret to announce that we lost four of our party members to the unfortunate development. Our prayers goes out to the families of the deceased and we wish a quick recovery to those that are responding fast to treatment,” Alhaji Adebimpe said.
