Atalanta Appoint Palladino After Juric Sacking

Raffaele Palladino

November 11, (THEWILL) — Atalanta have appointed Raffaele Palladino following the departure of Ivan Juric, who was dismissed on Monday after a 3-0 home loss to Sassuolo. The club currently sit 13th in Serie A without a victory in their past seven league matches, marking their longest winless run in the top flight since 2018.

Palladino arrives six months after leaving Fiorentina by mutual consent in May. The 41-year-old had joined Fiorentina in June 2024 from Monza, where he had previously led the side to consecutive mid-table finishes in Serie A. At Fiorentina, he delivered a sixth-place finish in his debut campaign, the club’s strongest league performance since the 2015/2016 season under Paulo Sousa, whilst also qualifying for the UEFA Conference League.

His departure from Fiorentina came just three weeks after signing a contract extension. Across 108 Serie A matches during his managerial career, Palladino has recorded 44 victories, 29 draws and 35 defeats, giving him a win rate of 40.7 per cent.

Palladino inherits a side struggling for form, but will have little time to impose his ideas. His opening match in charge takes place on November 22 away to Napoli, the reigning Serie A champions, at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The appointment marks a swift return to management for Palladino and represents a significant challenge given Atalanta’s current position in the table. The club will hope his experience of guiding Fiorentina to their best league finish in nearly a decade can reverse their recent decline.
