SAN FRANCISCO, October 10, (THEWILL) – Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar is meeting with his erstwhile principal, President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
The meeting is being held at the residence of the ex-president within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), Abeokuta as the former Vice President arrived his former boss’ premises at about 1:05pm.
The visit to Obasanjo would be the first time the former president would meet with his former vice since the later emerged as presidential candidate of the PDP.
The two men had an on-again-off-again relationship since the two fell out towards the end of the Obasanjo presidency when the former president allegedly mounted schemes to block Atiku from succeeding him as president while Atiku had on his part actively played a role in stopping the third term agenda reportedly schemed by Obasanjo.
Though Obasanjo had in the past vowed not to ever support Atiku’s long nurtured presidential aspiration, there is expectation that the former president may unbend upon his even more harsh assessment of the incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari.
THEWILL gathered that the meeting between the two men was packaged by Afenifere leaders who had on Tuesday visited Dr. Obasanjo ahead of the visit.
Atiku was accompanied by his campaign Director-General and former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, and Senator Murray Ben-Bruce, former governor of Cross River state, Liyel Imoke, among others.
