SAN FRANCISCO, January 15, (THEWILL) – Succour is coming the way of the traumatised fleeing residents of Baga, the Borno community in Kukawa local government area of Borno State that was sacked last weekend by Boko Haram.

This is as the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) dispatched four trucks of relief materials to the internally displaced persons (IDPs) from the sacked community to alleviate their sufferings.

The items, which included 600 bags of rice, 300 bags of maize, 500 pieces of women wares, 400 pieces of men wares, 1000 pieces of blankets among others, were delivered to the IDPs camp housing the thousands of people who fled Baga and its environs after the sack.

The North East coordinator of NEMA, Mohammed Kanar, who presented the relief materials on behalf of the Director General of the agency, Alhaji Mohammed Sani Sidi, at the Teachers village camp for IDPs in Maiduguri, said the items are for the 3,200 IDPs from Baga currently staying at the camp.

“These items are to meet the basic needs of the IDP’s from Baga town and to alleviate their sufferings,” Kanar said.

Caretaker chairman of Kukawa local government, Musa Alhaji Bukar Kukawa, expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the assistance, saying it is their responsibility to take care of the welfare of its citizens.

Kukawa, who called on the federal government to intensify military operations so that the people can return back to their homes, said what is paramount to the people now is their protection .
