Barcelona Must Make Big Financial Effort To Re-Sign Messi – Tebas

April 19, (THEWILL) – Barcelona’s dream of re-signing Lionel Messi this summer may not be feasible, according to La Liga president, Javier Tebas.

While Paris Saint-Germain may be willing to let the Argentine leave, following the end of his contract, the Spanish club must take several financial measures to be able to register him legally. As it stands, Barça’s finances remain precarious, and they will have to make further concessions to get Messi back.

Already, Barcelona have activated several “levers” and mortgaged club assets to increase their transfer market spending, but they still have some players to register. Gavi, for example, has returned to playing under his youth contract, and the Spanish courts have ruled that the club cannot register a new senior deal. With his contract set to expire in the summer, Gavi has been linked with a move to Chelsea.

Despite the obstacles, Tebas is still hopeful that Barcelona will come up with a feasibility plan to bring the Catalan club legend Messi back to La Liga. He urged the club to make a significant effort to get Messi registered and noted that there is still time left before the close of the next summer transfer window.

However, the path to Messi’s return is far from straightforward, and the clock is ticking, even before summer, for Barcelona to make it happen.
