BEVERLY HILLS, May 29, (THEWILL) – Barcelona Football Club of Spain confirmed Ernesto Valverde as their new coach on a two-year deal.
In a deal that was made public on Monday, he 53-year-old former Barcelona player arrives at the Camp Nou replacing the departing Luis Enrique.
Valverde was poached from Athletic Bilbao, where he had been in charge for the last four seasons.
In Barcelona, he will be expected to return the Spanish side to glory as the club failed to clinch the La liga losing it to arch-rivals, Real Madrid.
Valverde will also be seeking to re-establish Barcelona as a force to reckon with in Europe by winning the UEFA Champions League which has eluded them in recent seasons under Enrique.
