September 04, (THEWILL) — The Bayelsa State Police Command has launched a manhunt for suspects involved in the alleged attempted murder, indecent assault, grievous harm, cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and abduction of Miss Nancy Wilfred, a native of Ighvie Town, Ughelli, Delta State, who resides in Yenagoa.

The case drew public attention after a video of the incident went viral online.

Commissioner of Police, Alonyenu Francis Idu, confirmed that a criminal investigation has been opened to bring the perpetrators to justice.

He said the Command held an exploratory session with the victim on September 3, 2025, which was followed by engagements with community-based and gender organisations.

According to the CP, the victim gave detailed accounts of the abuse and dehumanisation she suffered.

He urged the public to refrain from further sharing the disturbing images, stressing that it could worsen her psychological trauma.

“We must all work together to aid the recovery of the victim from the trauma caused by this incident.

“Appropriate measures are ongoing to apprehend those behind this callous act on a helpless young girl,” the CP stated.

Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Musa Mohammed, added that a full press briefing will be held soon to update the public on the progress of the investigation.
