October 25, (THEWILL) — Nigeria Women Football League NWFL champions, Bayelsa Queens, will face Edo Queens of Benin in the semi-finals of the ongoing Governor Douye Diri Female Pre-season Football Tournament.

‎Yenagoa, the sporting capital of Bayelsa State, has, in the past five days, witnessed beautiful football from NWFL sides in preparation for the final round of group matches, ahead of the ‎new league season slated for November 2025.

The Prosperity Girls and rivals Nasarawa Amazons played out a barren draw with both securing qualification to the semi-finals. Bayelsa Queens finished on eight points, the same points as Nasarawa Amazons, but topped group “A” with a better goal difference of plus three.

‎Delta Queens humbled Imo Strikers three-nil in the dead rubber fixture, having suffered defeats against Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens and Nasarawa Amazons. Edo Queens and FC Robo of Lagos in the third match of the day shared the spoils.

‎Edo Queens finished second in group “B” with eight points behind Bayelsa Princesses, who topped the group with the same points and a superior goals advantage of plus three after edging out Heartland Queens by two goals to one in their last group game.

The semi-final fixtures will now see Bayelsa Queens lock horns against Edo Queens at 2:00 pm, while Bayelsa Princesses will tackle Nasarawa Amazons by 4:00 pm on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Samson Siasia Stadium.

The grand finale of the Governor Douye Diri Female Pre-season Football Tournament will be decided on Sunday, October 26, at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
