March 19, (THEWILL) — Bayern Munich’s 4-1 defeat of Atalanta at the Allianz Arena carried the German club into the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals on a 10-2 aggregate, with Harry Kane marking his 50th goal in the competition with a brace on the night.
The England captain, who wore the armband in the second leg, broke the deadlock in the 25th minute via a penalty retake. Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello had saved Kane’s initial spot kick, awarded for Giorgio Scalvini’s handball, but was ruled to have strayed off his line, and Kane made no error with the second attempt.

Bayern now await Real Madrid in the quarter-finals, with Raphael Guerreiro and Karl having been among those to threaten even before Kane’s opener, underlining the one-sided nature of a tie that Atalanta will be keen to put behind them.
