April 07, (THEWILL) – The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says people have suffered enough from insecurity, economic stagnation, and deliberate sabotage of progressive efforts in the state.
“It is, therefore, unacceptable that certain political actors continue to exploit security issues and engage in destructive politics that hinder our collective growth”, it warned.
Acting State Committee Chairman of the party, Chief Benjamin Omale, in a statement in Makurdi on Monday, noted that security is the foundation of any meaningful development, without which, businesses fail, lives are lost, and communities are left in perpetual fear.
“Any individual or group using insecurity as a tool to settle political scores or to destabilise the government is working against the interest of the people. Such actions must be condemned and resisted by all well-meaning citizens”, Omale stated.
The APC chieftain, who added that such actions would also frustrate success, block developmental projects and undermine leadership for selfish political gains by a few individuals, therefore, charged all to rise above petty politics and work together to ensure that governance serves its true purpose of uplifting people and securing their future.
He commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for his relentless commitment to infrastructural development such as constructing roads, improving healthcare facilities, enhancing educational institutions, security and executing projects that have a direct impact on the lives of Benue people.
According to the APC chairman, development is not about party politics but about the people and their future, calling on politicians, irrespective of party affiliation, to put the interest of Benue state above self in order to tackle insecurity, support progressive policies, and promote peace and stability.
He warned that those who continue to play dangerous games with the security and well-being of Benue people must know that history will not be kind to them, saying the time for selfish politics is over as the state deserves safety, prosperity, and genuine leadership.
