December 22, (THEWILL) — Governor Hyacinth Alia has presented a budget estimate of ₦605,506,764,066.16 for 2026 fiscal year.

Making the presentation at the Benue State House of assembly Complex, Makurdi, on Monday, Governor Alia explained that the estimate represents a 10% increase over the 2025 budget.

“The proposed sum of ₦281,086,430,485.05 is expected to fund total recurrent expenditure. This shows a 21.69% increment over the total recurrent cost of the revised 2025 budget”, he stated.

According to Alia, these votes will account for the sustenance of the payment of minimum wage and other incidental costs associated with overheads, noting that it accounts for 46.4% of the total budget size of 2026.

On the proposed Capital Expenditure, the governor added that to sustain the modest gains and spur development in rural economy, the sum of ₦342,420,333,581.10 was proposed, representing a 1.66% change over the revised 2024 budget.

Responding, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alfred Emberga, thanked the governor for performing his constitutional obligation by the presentation of 2026 budget estimate.

He said members will scrutinise the document with the aim of passing it into law after due consideration.
