Justice Maurice Ikpambese

February 25, (THEWILL) – A group under the canopy of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Benue North-West senatorial Elders’ Council, has rejected what they referred to as the ‘purported’ removal of Benue State Chief Judge, Justice Maurice Ikpambese, from office.

The Group equally condemned the suspension of thirteen members of the Benue State House of Assembly for three months by the state house of assembly.

The Chairman of the Council, Chief Akange Audu, at a news conference in Makurdi on Tuesday, said the action of the assembly members portrays an ugly development in the political landscape of Benue State.

“We condemn the unconstitutional acts of the leadership of the Benue State House of Assembly and their co-travellers displayed in their desperate and unlawful bid to remove the Chief Judge of Benue State and purported suspension of 13 members of the assembly, who chose to abide by their oath of office and defend the construction of Nigeria.”

The APC chieftain, therefore, called upon all stakeholders, including the national assembly and relevant authorities to add their voices in condemning the actions of the Benue State House of Assembly to remain resilient in abiding by the rule of law and upholding the principles of democracy that the nation stands for.

The group urged the Benue State House of Assembly to immediately withdraw the purported suspension of the affected members and provide official vehicles to members yet to enjoy the facility.
