July 18, (THEWILL) — The Rector of Benue State Polytechnic, Ugbokolo, Arch Henry Ojobo, has said that one of the major reforms embarked upon in the course of duty is the comprehensive digitisation of the result collection and payment system.
The move, he noted, was driven by the urgent need to curb widespread cases of forgery of results and falsification of school fee receipts, which posed a grave threat to the integrity of the academic records.
“By digitising these processes, we have made them more secure, transparent, and efficient, ensuring that only genuine and duly qualified students can access their results”, he declared.
Reacting to a media report entitled “Students of Benue Polytechnic cry out over stressful result collection process”, the management acknowledges that every transition comes with initial challenges.
“It is important to set the record straight and inform our dear students and the general public about the proactive steps already taken by the current administration under the visionary leadership of Arc. (Dr) Henry Ojobo to address the root causes of these concerns”, it said.
In a statement, the Director of Media and Publicity of the institution, Mr Nongomin Jacob Tor, on Friday, explained that management has already removed the need for physical visits to any bank, pointing out that payments can now conveniently be made from anywhere, even from the comfort of students’ homes or hostels, based on new digital platform.
“This innovation was specifically introduced to save time, reduce transportation costs, and eliminate the stress of travelling long distances just to make payments”, Mr Tor stated.
The statement added that during an interactive session with students, the management discovered that the real challenge faced by many was a lack of ICT skills needed to navigate the new system, which is why the Rector immediately directed the Directorate of ICT to organise training seminars to guide students step-by-step on how to use the platform.
The statement explained that these seminars have already been conducted successfully, and additional sessions are planned in the coming weeks to ensure that no student is left behind, and apologised for any inconveniences students might have experienced during the period of digital transition.
While stressing that the welfare and success of students in the institution remain at the heart of every decision taken, they urged everyone to see such reforms not as an added burden, but as a forward-thinking measure to safeguard the credibility of certificates issued by the Polytechnic and to ensure a seamless, secure, and student-friendly experience.
