BEVERLY HILLS, November 09, (THEWILL) – Though Alhaji Konto Sulum may have lost his 22-year-old son, Mohammed, the University of Maiduguri Physics graduate allegedly killed by a soldier he offered to help in his car, the bereaved father is crying for justice.
Mohammed Sulum who was awaiting his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC ) call-up letter before the tragic incident, was allegedly killed last Wednesday by a soldier he thought he was assisting but who ended up killing him and made away with the car.
Briefing newsmen in journalist in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, the bereaved father alleged that the evil act was done at a hidden location at about 6pm on Wednesday.
He alleged that the soldier had appealed to his son to give him a lift to his duty post only to shoot Mohammed thereafter and escaped in the poor boy’s car.
Alhaji Sulum said, “The soldier who thought he (Mohammed) was dead dragged his corpse out of the car and zoomed off with his car. My son crawled down by the roadside near Asita Hotel in Bolori where a good Samaritan called the attention of Civilian JTF and they tried to rush him to the hospital but he gave up the ghost before reaching the hospital.”
Continuing, he said: “Before my son died, he informed the Civilian JTF that he was shot by a soldier who had run away with his car.
The next day his friend saw the soldier and his friend at Oando Filling station Baga Road with the car, and they alerted Civilian JTF and they arrested them.”
He also disclosed that Mohammed had just graduated from the Physics Department of the University of Maiduguri and was waiting for his call-up letter from the NYSC before his untimely death.
A source within the Nigerian Army who craved anonymity confirmed the incident.
“As I am speaking to you, the said soldier and his friend are already in chains in the military detention and will soon be prosecuted,” the source said.
