February 09, (THEWILL) — Real Betis claimed their first victory at the Estadio Metropolitano on Sunday, defeating Atletico Madrid 1-0 in La Liga just three days after losing 5-0 to the same opponents in the Copa del Rey quarter-final at home.
Atletico began brightly, with Jose Maria Gimenez forcing Alvaro Valles into an early stop before Ademola Lookman missed the target moments later. However, Betis took the lead in the 28th minute when Antony beat Mateo Ruggeri and bent a long-range shot beyond Jan Oblak at the near post.
