BEVERLY HILLS, January 17, (THEWILL) – The national chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Adamu Mu’azu, has warned the people of the Southeast to beware of the promises being made to them by the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement issued weekend by his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Tony Amadi, Mu’azu said: “I want to use this opportunity to warn voters in the Southeast and elsewhere in the country to be careful before casting their votes in the Presidential and other elections starting on February 14, 2015.”
According to the PDP national chairman, “This warning has become necessary as the opposition APC are promising impossibilities just to take your votes and win the elections.”
He added: “They have promised the resuscitation of Coal Corporation and the Southeast roads, two big projects that will run into hundreds of billions of naira to fully complete.”
Mu’azu, while calling for more caution said: “You must ask the APC to show the people how they will raise the money. Will they increase taxation or will they sell national assets to raise the money? Do the APC intend to hike up VAT and worsen your standard of living? When the PDP make promises, we back it up with projected costing and sources of fund as we have done in the ongoing Onitsha second bridge project in the Southeast zone.”
According to him, “The PDP is now moving very vast to claim pole position in the election high stakes and nothing will hinder our determination to achieve a historic fourth consecutive presidential election victory in a row. We have faithfully served the nation and the record of our achievements is a pride to the nation.
“The PDP government of President Jonathan has improved the nation’s road and railway transport system while the aviation sector has had a major transformation not to mention the water transportation.”
He disclosed that from next week as PDP campaign moves into the North, the activities of the PDP governments at Federal and state level can be seen from the improvements in agricultural transformation, fertilizer distribution direct to farmers and the dry season farming that is now the order of the day.
He said roads in the North remain the best in the country, courtesy of the PDP Administration.
“In the education sector, the party has performed very well by the introduction of the ‘Almajiri’ school project which has transformed education in the entire North. Every state in the country whether ruled by our party or the APC can boast of a Federal University set up by this President.
“Your votes will continue to make a difference if you vote the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, the winning party,” he added.
