BEVERLY HILLS, CA, November 28, (THEWILL) – The 7 Division of the Nigerian Army on Thursday said about 50 insurgents were killed when men of the division joined other security operatives in a combined air and land raid of some Boko Haram camps in the Sambisa Forest in Borno State last Sunday and Monday.
A top security source, who craved anonymity, said in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, that no less than 50 Boko Haram insurgents were killed as many others escaped with bullet wounds during the raid on their last fortress.
However, the spokesman of the 7 Division, Colonel Mohammed Dole, who confirmed the raid at a media briefing in Maiduguri, did not give the exact number of casualties in the onslaught on the terrorists.
“Yes, our men have identified and destroyed some camps of terrorists along the Sambisa area and the operation was a huge success, a positive development for us and the communities around the Sambisa area.
“I cannot tell you the exact number of the terrorists killed but there is no doubt about it…many of them have been killed during the airstrike which we strongly believe was precise,” Dole said.
